The Cleaning Ministry is an all-volunteer group of parishioners who are committed to keeping our worship space and church building clean and presentable. The task is necessary to maintain the value of the parish investment.
Fifty to sixty parish members are doing an excellent job in this ministry, however more people are always needed. The volunteers are divided into four groups - one group for each week of the month. About four times a year there's a fifth week, with no regularly scheduled group for that week. So we invite experienced cleaners as well as new volunteers to join us. After cleaning many of us go out for a meal and fellowship at a local restaurant. Watch the bulletin and Constant Contact for announcements about the fifth week cleaning. All are welcome!
In addition to the four groups now in place, we also have people assigned to the "Monday touch-up" cleaning each week. With our present group of volunteers, each person spends about two hours cleaning per month. It's understandable that not everyone can be available every month for their group's scheduled cleaning time. So, if we could have an additional twenty to thirty people sign up, it would be easier to tackle all tasks in a shorter period of time. Cleaning times are somewhat flexible, depending on activities in the church, and our group leads are fun and easy to work with. We are looking for volunteers for any of the following duties:
• Vacuuming carpets throughout
• Mopping ceramic tile, including steps
• Cleaning floors under the pews
• Dusting pews, altar furniture, windowsills, etc.
• Cleaning all restrooms – upstairs and downstairs
• Vacuuming cushioned seats of the pews
• Cleaning windows throughout
All parishioners are enjoying and benefiting from the results of these efforts. In fact, having a clean and welcoming church environment is something we all take for granted! It's when something doesn't get done that we may take notice.
